Notes from Right to Privacy Hearings

The question of whether or not there is a Fundamental Right to Privacy in India was referred to a nine-Judge Bench by a five-Judge Bench on 18 July 2017. The question had reached a five Judge Bench because it was referred to a Constitutional-Bench by a three-Judge Bench in the case of K.S. Puttaswamy and Ors. v. Union of India and Ors [W.P.(C). No. 494/2012]. Hearings before the nine-Judge Bench lasted for six days. The Bench comprised Chief Justice of India (CJI) J.S. Khehar and Justices D.Y. Chandrachud, J. Chelameshwar, S.A. Bobde, A. Nazeer, R.K. Agrawal, R.F. Nariman, A.M. Sapre and S.K. Kaul. We attended these hearings, live-tweeted them from @SFLCin and posted our notes from the hearings at sflc.in.
